Solitaire Was Never Supposed to Be Social

For 200+ years, solitaire was exactly what the name suggests: a game you play alone. You against the cards. No one watching. No one judging.

That changes now.

VSolitaire multiplayer gives two players the exact same deal and lets them race to finish. Same cards. Same starting position. Only skill determines the winner.

It's the most intense solitaire experience you've never had.

How VSolitaire Multiplayer Works

Unlike "multiplayer" solitaire games that just compare leaderboard scores, VSolitaire is real-time head-to-head competition:

Feature VSolitaire Other "Multiplayer" Games
Same deck Identical starting cards Different random deals
Real-time See opponent's progress live Compare scores after
Direct competition First to finish wins Highest score wins
Skill-based Equal playing field Luck of the draw

When you start a match, both players see the same 52 cards in the same positions. The only variable is how fast and smart you play.

The Multiplayer Experience

Before the Game

When both players are ready, you'll see:

  • Your opponent's username
  • A 3-second countdown
  • The identical deal that you'll both play

During the Game

While you play, you can see:

  • Your progress: Your tableau, foundations, score
  • Opponent's progress: Foundation counts (how many cards they've moved up)
  • Time elapsed: How long you've been playing

You won't see their exact cards or moves-just how far along they are. This creates tension without revealing strategy.

Winning Conditions

The first player to move all 52 cards to the foundations wins. If neither player can finish:

  • The player with more foundation cards wins
  • Ties go to whoever got there first

Multiplayer vs Solo: Strategy Differences

Solo solitaire is relaxing. Multiplayer solitaire is intense. Here's what changes:

Speed Matters (But Not Everything)

In solo play, you can think forever. In multiplayer, your opponent isn't waiting.

But don't panic. Fast mistakes are worse than slow accuracy. The goal is efficient decision-making, not frantic clicking.

Undo Changes

You can still undo in multiplayer-but every undo costs time. Use it for genuine mistakes, not for exploring options like in solo play.

Foundation Racing

In solo play, we recommend keeping foundations even. In multiplayer, sometimes you need to race cards up to stay ahead. Adapt your strategy to what your opponent is doing.

Tips for Winning Multiplayer Matches

1. Master Solo First

If you can't win 70%+ of solo games, you're not ready for multiplayer. Learn the fundamentals with our tips & strategies guide first.

2. Know the Opening Moves

The first 10 moves of any game should be automatic:

  • Move Aces and Twos up immediately
  • Reveal face-down cards in order of column depth
  • Build efficient sequences without hesitation

Practice until these moves are muscle memory.

3. Watch the Progress Bar

Glance at your opponent's foundation count occasionally. If they're pulling ahead, you might need to take risks. If you're ahead, play conservatively.

4. Don't Choke on an Unwinnable Game

Sometimes the deal isn't solvable. If you're stuck and your opponent is still moving, don't waste time. They might be stuck too-or their luck might run out.

5. Practice Under Pressure

Play a few quick matches daily. The more you experience multiplayer pressure, the calmer you'll be in critical moments.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does VSolitaire multiplayer work?

Both players receive identical starting deals and race to complete their foundations first. You can see your opponent's progress in real-time, but not their specific moves.

Is multiplayer really fair if we get the same cards?

That's exactly what makes it fair. Traditional 'multiplayer' solitaire gives different random deals, so luck determines outcomes. Same-deck multiplayer ensures skill is the only factor.

Can I play multiplayer on my phone?

Yes. VSolitaire runs in any browser and is fully optimized for touchscreens. No app download required.

What happens if my opponent disconnects?

You win by default. The system detects disconnections within seconds and awards the match to the remaining player.

How do I improve at multiplayer?

Master solo play first (aim for 70%+ win rate), learn the standard opening moves until they're automatic, and practice playing under time pressure. Speed without accuracy loses games.
